Memoirs of an Accidental Undertaker

Over the new year, a twist of fate occurred and thus I have plunged into a new career. Dear friends and readers, fret not! For I am still helping people, well in a different kinda way. I still do counselling for clients and conduct talks, I just happened to have added a new profession to my repertoire.

I am an undertaker.

Or rather a Funeral Director as we are called these days. This probably explains my long absence from my writing. You see, I used to work on weekends and I thought my previous job was a blast, now I work 24hrs and every single day of the week for the death visits even on public holidays.

I was initially shy about the work that I do and didn’t publicize about it, however as time went by, I have grown to truly appreciate the work that I do. A new perspective has developed and it is an honor to have helped all those families. I used to think that people hated undertakers…and honestly they do fear us. But when a family just lost a loved one, we are the ones who sweep in to provide a sense of calm to the grieving family; assuring them that every thing is well taken care of.

Funeral UndertakerIf you have watched the movie Depatures, you would understand the same feeling that I get with each family that I meet. Every family that I meet is unique and every tear shed tells a different story. I hope to archive some of the more interesting lessons I learn through my work. Be assured friends that all names, identities, locations and time will be changed to protect the identity of the living.

So look out for a new set of stories ahead! (:
