The Yip and The Yap

This story was originally by Dr Seuss but I just can’t find the title or the original book. I only remember the crux of the story. It was written for kids but it applies to us adults even more. This story is truly about communication and this is my adapted version: Continue reading

To Pea or not to Pea

Be a part of the pod

A client came and talked about her identity crisis. She mentioned how much society and her family have pressured her into being who she is today. In so doing, she sacrificed much of her dreams and aspirations for she feared going against these expectations. This story was written for her. Continue reading

I Want I Want I Want and The Demise of Happiness

Genevieve walks like a princess, talks like a princess and behaves like a princess. She lives in a lavish mansion, complete with a gardener, a butler and even a barista. Pink, white and gold silk are her choice of fabric. Her father tells her that he is a gardener and grows beautiful flowers that make people happy, but she never believes him; Why would a gardener have fierce looking bodyguards? Her mother tells her that she is an accountant for she keeps father’s money in check by exchanging them for anything from handbags to cars. Genevieve has never believed her mother; Why would an accountant not know how to read? Continue reading

The Last Drop

There was a man who was crawling through the desert, in search for a drop of water. As every second bled by, his energy drained away more and more. He needed water. Continue reading

Sheepless Sleep

This is an article that I wrote for Cozycot on Sleepless nights. Hope it helps those of you who have problems sleeping. If not, hope you enjoy the read!

It’s the night before an important day. You know you need a good night’s sleep, so you go to bed earlier than usual. As you close your eyes, you wait. You try your best to sleep, but the harder you try, the more difficult it gets. Time trickles away slowly and before your know it, the night has gone by. There goes your confidence to perform well the next day. Can you imagine if this happens on a daily basis? Continue reading

Can You Truly Live if You Live with Your Parents?

Click on this picture for an article by Psychology Today

I watched the Black Swan recently and Natalie Portman’s performance has pirouette-d me dizzy. What I liked most about the show is the portrayal of the relationship between the character’s mother and daughter. The character’s mother personifies many of the traits that I observe in some of my client’s parents. Love like a rose vine, beautiful yet constricting. Continue reading

Choking on Your Words?

Click this image to read an article by Scientific America On Choking

I was just reading about this article by Malcolm Gladwell in his book: What The Dog Saw.  In his article “The Art of Failure”, he pointed out the difference between choking and panicking. This is especially interesting for people with public speaking woes and I shared this article with my clients. Continue reading

Closing Cycles

Taken from Paulo Coehlo's Blog

This was from Paulo Coehlo’s blog on the last day of 2010. Hope you like it!

One always has to know when a stage comes to an end. If we insist on staying longer than the necessary time, we lose the happiness and the meaning of the other stages we have to go through.
Closing cycles, shutting doors, ending chapters – whatever name we give it, what matters is to leave in the past the moments of life that have finished. Continue reading

Have You Heard of Ted Williams?

Every one deserves a 2nd chance, so do you!

I picked out this Video from the links in Facebook and it has really moved me in many ways.  It talked about an interesting character called Ted Williams who claims to have been given the God Given voice. He fell into a slump with Alcoholism and lost every thing. He is now offered a 2nd chance. Enough said, watch all these videos and the interview especially. Continue reading

WikiLeaks and Yourself

Are you like a fish in a fishbowl?

A client shared this idea with me. When WikiLeaks started posting diplomatic Cables online, he read them and he claims to have gotten a glimpse into the ‘true workings’ of the world. A moment later, he realized that he has never really taken a good glimpse at his own inner world before. That day he sat down and he started to let his subconscious mind leak and thats when he broke down. Continue reading
